Beech Tree Leaf Disease
Beech tree leaf disease is a serious threat to our native and European beech trees. The disease is spreading quickly from Ohio into the northeast states. Beech leaf disease is caused by a foliar nematode. Hypothesis is this nematode originated from Asia. Symptoms include leaf banding, bud death. Leaves can also look tattered or distorted. What can be done? We are currently offering a systemic bark treatment with potassium phosphite applied in May and again in August. Current research indicates an injection to the root flares with a material is effective on a 2 year basis.
